George seeks to reconcile Lagos PDP

Peoples Democratic Party chieftain and elder statesman, Kassam Funsho Ashade, has called on PDP members to disregard all publications by dissisdent groups who are saying that the Deputy National Chairman of the party, Bode George, is over bearing and does not have the interest of its members at heart.

Peoples Democratic Party chieftain and elder statesman, Kassam Funsho Ashade, has called on PDP members to disregard all publications by dissisdent groups who are saying that the Deputy National Chairman of the party, Bode George, is over bearing and does not have the interest of its members at heart.

According to the elder statesman, 'George is a man of peace ,who is bent on restoring the love and unity that existed in the party."

He cautioned those that said George was overbearing to desist from such idle talk because very soon, the welfare of members will be unveiled.

'Bode believes in due process and those blaming him are rough riders. The issue of welfare and packaging will definitely go round all PDP faithful. Yar Adua's administration has just started," he said.
He blamed the crisis in PDP on the influx of outsiders whom he accused of hijacking the party which was built by some respectable individuals.

Speaking further, he said: 'Some of them mistook that privilege for their own selfish ambition. They do not want to contest the party alone but to hijack the party which has been built by a lot of people. Some were given the privilege and they misused it. All we need do is make people respect their elders. Lagos PDP is now on course and come 2011, we will match to Alausa.

'We did not have such problem in the party as everybody accepted Bode George as the right man, even at the risk of his life. It could be recalled that it was the emergence of late Funsho Williams through Bode George that made Lagos PDP what it is today."

Ashade called on the dissident groups to embrace peace offered by the Bayo William-led executives, which is the way forward. 'They would go to the paper that they want to reconcile but when they get to their caucus meeting, they continue from where they stopped to truncate peaceful overtures."
He commended the national leadership of PDP for selecting the Bayo Williams-led executives of the Lagos State chapter of the party.

'We are looking forward to a peaceful state and national congress," he said.
